Deepika Padukone replaces Katrina Kaif

Deepika Padukone has fired yet another salvo at arch rival Katrina Kaif. She has bagged Karan Johar's home production directed by Ayan Mukerji opposite her ex boyfriend Ranbir Kapoor.

Katrina was originally signed for this film that is supposed to go on floors in November 2011. However Katrina is meant to giving the very same dates to Yashraj Productions for a film with Shah Rukh Khan that is being directed by veteran Yash Chopra.

It is said that even before the dates had been worked out Kat reportedly leaked out the news to the pressthat she was in Ayan's film opposite Ranbir because she wanted to grab some quick headlines. Then Kat realised she was in a fix over the dates, so Deepu who has been dying to open her accout with Dharma Productions and was also dying to get back together with Ranbir on screen has stepped in.

For the last few days Deepika has been preparing ground for her film with Ranbir. She has using the Aarakshan platformto constantly say--`I have no issues working with Ranbir.' The reason is simple. Deepika has known for more than a week now that she is in the one in Ayan's film with RK Junior. However she was keeping the news close to her chest because she had not signed the dotted line. A trade source says, ``Now it's official. Deepika will romance Ranbir.''

Kat has been left out in the cold or perhaps when it came to making a final choice Kat preferred Shah Rukh Khan

I have always loved Sanjay Dutt: Karan Johar

In a scenario where villains are dominating the imagination of the Indian cinegoer, Sanjay Dutt - who plays the antagonist in Karan Johar's remake of Agneepath - stands tallest.

The Bollywood khalnayak, who turns 52 today, has apparently deciphered the mutiple layers of this new version of the Agneepath baddie giving him a rustic touch, leaving his producer KJo and director Karan Malhotra completely astonished.

Says KJo, "I have always loved Sanju and known him since I was five. I will get to our professional equation later, but first I must start with our personal relationship. Our fathers (Yash Johar and Sunil Dutt) were good friends. Sanju used to call my father buddha uncle because dad had salt and pepper hair and was partially bald very early in life. Just the other day I was over at his home for dinner and I met his two adorable kids Shahran and Iqra. Sanju was telling his son to call me buddha uncle! It was a very nostalgic moment."

Shifting gears, Karan talks of Agneepath, a film that has brought the two of them together for the first time. Says he, "When I approached Sanju for the film, there were no questions asked. He didn't ask for a script; no modalities were discussed. It was blind trust. Sanju is all heart and I'm touched by his implicit faith in my banner Dharma Productions and me."

Revealing how the protagonist Vijay (played by Hrithik Roshan) and the antogonist Kancha (Sanjay) are completely different in this 2012 verison, Karan says, "I have seen the rushes and I must tell you that Hrithik and Sanju are just terrific together. Sanju has intepreted Kancha with a rustic tonality and a panache that is hard to describe. The result will be there for everyone to see when the film releases on January 13, 2012. We will all emerge victorious."

According to Karan, Sanju's Kancha avatar is like no other bad man ever seen in a Bollywood film. "The texture he has brought to the character is something unusual," he smiles.

Wishing Sanju a Happy Birthday, Karan says, "He is one of the most amazing guys I have known. He is the baba of the Hindi film industry and I hope he stays the way he is - all heart and no guile."

Karan Johar geared up for a K3G sequel

Ten years back Karan Johar had made a star-studded family drama and called it 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham'. And now the director is all geared up to make a sequel to the film with a little persuasion from Amitabh Bachchan.

Karan Johar intends to get the original cast of Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham for the sequel too. But will Shah Rukh and Amitabh be ready to share screen space again? There has been an evident cold war brewing between the duo since last year and they've been vying to grab media attention ever since. Big B had put up the falling TRP listings of SRK's TV show on his blog. On the other hand Shah Rukh announced his world tour, 'Temptations Reloaded' when the Bachchans were all set to commence their global musical tour called 'The Unforgettables'.

Secondly, will Hrithik be cheerful to play lover boy to Kareena after a gap of eight years? The two had purposely avoided acting together due to rumours of their alleged relationship during the filming of some of their films. They were last seen together in 'Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon'(2003). Recently, Kareena even refused to do a cameo in Hrithik's 'Agneepath' remake.

Lastly will Kajol take a break from motherhood and leave her new baby to get into films again? Guess only time will tell.

Johar announces to a tabloid that Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham 2 is a workable idea and it would indeed be a bold step to make the film. The director is pretty confident that he would be able to convince his actors to come together again. While Amitabh Bachchan is already on board the other actors have still to give their nod.

The original movie about an adopted son who is estranged from his father touched the hearts of the Indian audience. The movie was a blockbuster in India and was termed a big hit overseas as well. 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham' was easily the sixth highest grosser worldwide in 2001.

The sequel is rumoured to be another family saga giving the conflict between two brothers more prominence. Amitabh Bachchan spoke about seeing the legacy of the Raichand family going ahead in his blogs. He revealed the angle the film would supposedly take. "It would be a story on the growth of the brothers and the problems that arise because of their independent understanding and working of the business empire of the father, a split within them and so on..."

Karan Johar takes inspiration from Delhi Belly

Karan Johar is known for his family sagas full of emotion, drama and songs.

But all that is about to change. The man who is a year away from turning 40, plans to get naughty by making a sex comedy on the lines of Delhi Belly. "I'd love to make a film like Delhi Belly. It's awesome," admitted KJo.

Inspired by none other than Aamir Khan, the filmmaker is all set to now produce a raunchy comedy. And no, the Kabhie Khushi Kabhie Gham director isn't kidding.

However, the man known for his prim and proper family films has his own conditions before he makes a film so removed from his image of being sober. He wants Aamir Khan to help him with the venture.

"I can only do a raunchy comedy if Aamir Khan helps me. I don't think I can pull it off on my own. I don't have the confidence to pull it off. It's a writing victory all the way. And couldn't be possible without Aamir's backing," said the filmmaker. And what's more, the filmmaker is willing to wait Aamir. "All the edgy humour, language, sex jokes...nowhere did I feel uncomfortable watching Delhi Belly.

I've felt far more uncomfortable in other so-called comedies. I fell off my chair with laughter," said Karan. And that's when the thought of making a film on the lines of the Aamir Khan production struck the man.

Wonder how good friend Shah Rukh will take this piece of news.

In other words Salman has no dates to spare for Rensil. Incidentally Salman did an interesting cameo in Karan Johar's Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, where he plays Kajol's fiancee.

Post that he hasn't found time for another Dharma project.

Karan Johar wants to cash in on Imran Khan

Karan Johar seems to have delayed the release of his film 'Short Term Shaadi' to bank on Imran Khan's rising popularity.

Karan Johar's film Short Term Shaadi starring Imran Khan and Kareena Kapoor is more of less ready. However the filmmaker, who is known to declare the release dates of his films much in advance, is far from deciding one for this film. The reason seems to be Imran Khan.

No the young Khan is not giving any grief to KJo. In fact Johar is trying to 'bank' on Imran's rising popularity. It's not like Karan Johar needs to make any efforts to find a distributor for his film. However trade sources insist that it's a smart business move on the part of Karan Johar.

So far Imran Khan has been in news but his films after Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na haven't really been huge success. Be it Kidnap, Luck, I Hate Luv Storys or Break Ke Baad , his films have never been blockbuster material. Perhaps that should change after Delhi Belly and Mere Brother Ki Dulhan .

"Imran Khan's Delhi Belly seems to be hot property with the immense buzz surrounding the movie. The film should undoubtedly get a record-breaking opening", says a trade source on condition of anonymity. "Then there is Yash Raj Films' Mere Brother Ki Dulhan where the fresh pairing of Imran and Katrina should again attract audiences. So, Imran Khan's market value is sure expected to rise after these two films". So Karan Johar could get a better deal with the success of these two films of Imran Khan and so he seems to have pushed Short Term Shaadi in November.

Smart decision, we must say!
